On the weekend of March 18-19,FIND, Inc. presented the 2011Spring Conference, hosted by District III at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. This year’s Conference, entitled Aksyon, which roughly translates to “Action,” encouraged delegates to learn about the Filipino American Identity from varying perspectives and about discovering different ways of preserving the Filipino American culture for future generations.Through three different sessions titled Discover, Assert, and Build,the delegates were exposed to several remarkable speakers who were able to share their knowledge on a wide range of topics. Some focuses discussed during Conference include Unveiling the Generation Gaps, Activism and Social Movement,and Ethnic Identity Conflicts.Speakers who attended the Conference include Adam Diaz,Julman Tolentino, Hanalei Ramos,Ray Obispo, Veronica Salcedo, Eleonar Castillo, UniPro, Ron Buenaventura, Crystal Leigh,Marco Marcado, Junelle Cavero,and Sounds of New Hope.

During the evening of Conference,the delegates were treated to a spectacular Culture Show filledwith cultural and modern dances,spoken word, stand up comedy,and live music. Performances included Anne Corotan, Can I Spit On It?, Rich Kiamco, Emerald Gan,RCDT, Marco Marcado, Vincent Lacsamana, Karla Garcia, Kheem and the Boys, Crystal Leigh, Mooks, Remillino Josefranco Ella, and The Manhattan Project.

Sponsors and vendors offered throughout the Conference weekend included Filipino National Historic Society, GMA Pinoy TV,Uni Pro, Tagalog with Kirby, Aireal Apparel, BAYAN USA, Hand Crafting Justice, Hybrid Style, Manila Gorilla,Naw Tee Life, Pnoy Apparel,Rufma, and Squirez.
